Conservative Thoughts

I love social networking on Facebook. I love keeping up with my friends in far places, hearing what they are doing, sharing in their thoughts, and seeing what makes them who they are by observing the pages they are fans of, the games they play, and the bumper stickers they choose to display.

This morning, I clicked to become a fan of being "Conservative". I don't always like to label myself, unless I am labeling myself with titles like "Child of God," "Daughter of the Most High King," "Wife," "Mom of Four Plus One," and "Writer." So, I decided to grab my trusted dictionary and define exactly what I mean by "Conservative."

Conservative: to conserve; tending to preserve established institutions, etc., opposed to change; moderate; cautious
Conserve: to keep from being damaged, lost, or wasted; save

As a conservative person, I desire to see the established institution of marriage, as established by God in His Word and in the making of Adam and Eve, to be preserved as being between one man and one woman. If God wanted Adam to marry Adam, He would have made two Adams. It's that simple.

As a conservative person, I desire to see life kept from being damaged, lost, and wasted. I want to see abortion eradicated, rather than the lives of innocent children eradicated. That little package of love could be the next President, the next J.R.R. Tolkien, the next Rosa Parks. Women don't understand what they are throwing away when they try to preserve their own life at the expense of another.

As a conservative person, I desire to hold the Truths found in my Bible, written by God as a textbook case for life and how to live it according to His will, as just that...Truth. The Truth that sets humanity free from sin and death. The Truth that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. People can try to change that Truth all that they want. They can try to find another way in through the sheep gate, but that's not the answer to their issues. Nor will it get them what they desire to find on the other side of that gate.

Truth: 1. a being true; a) sincerity; honesty, b) conformity with fact, c) reality; actual existence, d) correctness; accuracy 2. that which is true 3. an established fact.

You can't change the truth, and why would you want to try? It would be a fruitless effort. The truth is: the earth is round. You can't change that truth. The truth is: 2+2=4. You can't change it and make it a new number. It is an established fact. Why do we spend so much of our lives wasting time trying to change the established fact and truthfulness in the gospels that Jesus Christ came to this round earth, died on a cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day? We need to quit trying! And if one doesn’t agree with this Truth, then just admit that you’d rather believe the lie.

The Truth will never change. It is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I am a conservative who loves the Truth that God established before He created the earth and all that is in it.
