{Minute Meditation} Ask, Seek, Knock

"So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Luke 11:9-10).

So often we read this verse and think that if we have any kind of physical or emotional need, God will fulfill it if we just ask. Sick? God will heal if we just ask. Need money? God will provide if we just ask. Can't stand the kids today? God will bring peace to our home if we just ask.

Here's what I caught in this verse today:

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him" (Luke 11:13, emphasis mine)!

God promises us the Holy Spirit if we ask, seek, and knock. God's desire is for us to have more of HIM. Not necessarily things (although His blessing are quite bountiful). Jesus speaks of the good gifts we give our children. The Holy Spirit has many gifts for us, as well. If only we'd ask, seek, and knock.

  1. God's desire is for us to have more of HIM - Amen, Alycia!

  2. definitely have to keep reading on that verse! Just like Romans 8:28...all things work together for good to those WHO LOVE HIM AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE. We like to leave the last part out and just say God works all things for good. We need to love HIM and desire more of HIM. Great post Alycia! :)
